Chumani
Lines By: Feiste
Breed: American Indian Dog
Personality:
Impulsive: Chumani is quick to action, going with her heart rather than her mind. She tends to have a bit of a hero complex, trying to help everyone but often failing when she bites off more than she can chew, probably because she is the animal guide to a shaman's apprentice. She is a favorite among the tribe's dogs because of her care for the humans while many of the other dogs just do as they're told to get food, but her impulsiveness often leads her into positions where she's the one needing saving.
Determined: Chumani is determined to help her human companion succeed in his venture to become a shaman. He has an uncanny ability to understand her as well as to see the magic within her. Unfortunately, her determination along with her impulsiveness can also lead to problems for her human partner, as he listens to her no matter how ill-thought out her plan may be. She really wants to prove herself as the best guardian, but her inexperience and hasty decision making don't help.
Overprotective: One thing that really sets Chumani off is anyone threatening her tribe, especially her partner and his mentor. Make no mistake, she will attack if someone wants to bring harm to those she cares about. She is often on the front line if there's a dispute between tribes, both to help the shamans treat the wounded or to help with the fight itself.
Easily Annoyed: Chumani can be rather impatient, leading her to be quick to frustration and annoyance. She has very little patience for stupidity from both humans and other animals. As much of a hero complex that she has, she can't help but roll her eyes at what a lack of common sense can do to someone. Of course, she could easily be called hypocritical in that sense because of her impulsiveness leading to her own actions lacking in common sense.

The Shamans: There are two shamans in Chumani's village: the current shaman and his 15 year old apprentice. Chumani is the boy's companion and animal guide. He found her as a puppy at the end of his vision quest and took her in as a physical representation of his spirit animal. The her human partner considers her to be special because of her unusually colored markings and the necklace she was wearing when he found her.
Her Tribe: She loves the humans that she lives with. They all treat her like one of them and believe that she is an important part of her partner's destiny. Plus, they all take care of her and make sure she's happy even when her master is away.
The Spirits: Chumani always thanks the spirits for delivering her to her partner. She has no recollection of what life was like before she was found, and she has no clue where the necklace came from, but she's sure the spirits are somehow involved. She wants to be the best animal guide ever to show the spirits her gratitude.
Protecting Others: Chumani is not sure if her need to protect others is learned from her master, a gift from the spirits, or just her nature, but she feels like she must keep people safe, and that's what she loves to do.
Dislikes:
Being Wrong: Chumani hates being wrong about what she should do. She feels like she is a disgrace to the spirits when she leads her master wrong.
Enemies of Her Tribe: Given her love for her human tribemates, it's no surprise that their enemies are her enemies. After all, enemies typically aim to kill, and Chumani is not ok with that.
Rabbit Meat: Chumani's least favorite meat is rabbit. She prefers venison or even bird meat to rabbit meat and is one of the only dogs that is allowed to be picky in her tastes. The only time she ever gives in and eats rabbit is when food is scarce and the humans need the venison more than she does.
